Missouri Blizzard

The day after our guest left we were hit by inches of ice that were covered by 6-10 inches of snow.  It was a miserable day, but the next day as the sun came out it turned into a winter wonderland!  We were invited to our friends house on the next road over for a sledding party!  We couldn't pass up a 1/4 a mile sled down an quiet road!
Jacob was smart to wear a helmet!

Wipe out in the ditch!  Where is my helmet?

Great Friends!

It looks like the adults are watching, but we all were in on the action!
I couldn't find my hat so I had to wear one of Hope's old ones!  Pretty funny, but I was warm!
Charlie couldn't pass up a race!
 And he won!

Their neighbors were skiing down a hill in-between the houses!

Company

Charlie and a good friend, Dan, had a bet going on a college game that the looser had to make the 8 hour drive to go visit the other.  Charlie lost so we were planning to drive to Kentucky, but instead they decided to come visit us!  I LOVE having company!  We anxiously awaited their arrival and Hope couldn't wait to play with little Madison.
Friday, turned out to be a absolutely beautiful, unusually warm day!  The men went off to the golf course with some more bets on the line and we girls headed off to explore.  We stopped by a couple landmarks, one of which required climbing a steep hill and picking off tag-a-long seed afterwards.  Then we headed to the farm to see Patches.
Madison made friends with all off the horses!
 Amber with the filly.
What a smile!  Madison was a natural cowgirl!
At first she was afraid of Doc because he is a little pushy, but she couldn't resist making friends with him too!
Amber and Patches!  She did great!
 Hugs good bye
That afternoon, Charlie and I had a "New Year Party" hosted by a higher up in the military.  It was 45 minutes long in the middle of the day and formal!  Crazy!  Dan and Amber kept Hope for us and they all went for a walk in the woods behind our house in search of a stick to turn into a magic wand.  Then they headed back to the house and helped Hope set up her magic show.

Hope's magic show!  The day before she had gone to a Mad Science presentation where they taught that magicians use science for their tricks.  It was so cool she wanted to share it.  Madison was her assistant!
Blessing wanted in on the act!  (She is good at the disappearing act if she sees the front door open!)

Trinity spent the night and the girls decided to see the world from a dogs perspective.
 Pretending to be asleep!
 Bath time!
Saturday we went out to eat!  It was so cool and we had the whole place to our selves.  Our waitress was so funny!  When I asked her if they had fat free dressing she answered, "Let me tell you something about the cave restaurant!  There is nothing fat free, including your waitress!"
 Beautiful couple, Dan and Amber

After we ate we walked along the river to the car and took family pictures.  (More to come in the next post)
Hanging out at the house.  Sunday we had a party with some other friends who know Dan and Amber and we had a great time!   Nothing makes me happier then spending time with the amazing family and friends God has put in our lives!
Hope and Madison were two peas in a pod!
 Two very competitive men!
Glory tried her hardest to sleep with Madison.
We tried to get a picture of all the dogs on the couch, but it wasn't happening!  So Madison and I jumped in on the action.
Madison and her dog America.

Monday morning they headed back to Kentucky, trying to beat the bad weather on it's way.

~* Thank you guys for visiting!  We love and miss you!  Can't wait to visit you when you are settled in at your new duty station! *~
